The “Self” in Self-Publishing

Self-publishing does not mean that you won’t require assistance to bring your work to market.
Once the manuscript is purified:
- You—or an outsource—must design a cover and prepare the graphic file according to the specifications of Amazon KDP or other print-on-demand (POD) and eBook distributors.
- You—or an outsource—must launch the book on Amazon KDP and others having formatted the text to fit their stringent requirements.
So, there are three human tasks:
- A professional editing
- Cover design by a competent graphic artist
- A “publisher,” with a lower-case “p,” to push your book up to the platform on Amazon or other distributors.
These, of course, do not have to be three people. It can be you.
